KKC served as a specialty land use and urban design consultant for this and other projects in a series of concurrent corridor planning efforts sponsored by the Houston-Galveston Area Council. The FM 1092 plan was for a high-volume corridor in Missouri City within fast-growing Fort Bend County (where KKC had recently updated the City’s Comprehensive Plan). While definitely geared toward vehicle movement, FM 1092 also has nearby schools, City parks and trails, churches, single- and multi-family development, and restaurants and retail that serve area neighborhoods. KKC focused on a strategic intersection to illustrate ways to promote desired development of “100% corners” while emphasizing quality design and accommodation of pedestrian and bicycle access along with general mobility improvements.
