In addition to developing its Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Code, the City charged KKC with developing a Trail Master Plan for the community, which was adopted in January 2015. Through its community planning focus and concurrent initiatives, Richmond garnered the higher profile it intended by receiving a Comprehensive Planning Award from the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association in 2015, and a Special Recognition for Planning Process, for its Trail Master Plan, through the Houston-Galveston Area Council Parks and Natural Areas Awards.
