The Heritage Preservation Plan is divided into a series of chapters and program
components that present a complete view of the preservation program and
its goals moving forward. This plan also discusses the numerous groups
engaged in preservation efforts, along with tools that are key to the successful
implementation and adminstration of the program moving forward.

This Plan begins with an introduction to heritage preservation and its importance
to the community. A graphic timeline follows that tells the story of Plano from
its early inhabitants to today. Next, it describes the state of the current program,
including an inventory of existing designated resources. Lastly, it delves into
the issues that are facing the program today and how this plan will help address
them. An appendix is also attached that includes an implementation matrix
and all the supporting data and information used to produce the Plan.

The program and work plan is divided into seven components, each of which
contain a series of goals, policies, and actions to solve the issues identified
within each component. The seven components of the strategic framework
around which the plan is organized are:
