Scenario 2a
A two-story addition maintains the side wall planes of the
historic structure and minimizes paved site areas by providing
           alley-access to a garage.

           • Lessons Learned: Provide a height limit on additions and
include that an addition can only be a maximum of one-half
story above the height of the historic building.

           Scenario 2b
This scenario is identical to Scenario 2a except that the
connector is below, rather than above, ground.

           • Lessons Learned: Incentivize below-ground connectors so the
buildings to read as separate and so the historic building can
             maintain its integrity.

           Scenario 3a
This scenario includes a short connector and a separate garage
that is accessed on the site via tire tracks paving.

           • Lessons Learned: Reduce the allowable UPA throughout the
historic district. Provide a maximum height limit on additions
and include that an addition can only be a maximum of
one-half story above the height of the historic building.
Encourage and incentivize the use of permeable paving
materials on the site, and provide a list of acceptable
             materials in the Design Standards.

           Scenario 3b
This scenario is identical to Scenario 3a, except for the
connector, which has moved below ground.

           • Lessons Learned: Refine the standards to incentivize below-
ground connectors so that new buildings on the site are
visually separate from the historic building to maintain the
             integrity of the historic building.
