Grenada County Build Better Together 2040 Plan
Guiding Principles
Through the process of preparing this Plan, the six guiding principles below were identified. A Guiding
Principle expresses a basic value or operating policy that will apply regardless of the course of action
ultimately chosen. In essence, guiding principles frame how an organization goes about pursuing its
mission. These principles should be consulted when making crucial decisions and when evaluating the
results of previous decisions and actions.
Guiding Principle 1
Grenada will be a THRIVING and future-focused place, known for its growth orientation and job‑
and wealth-generating industries – a place to make it and also pay it back.
Guiding Principle 2
Grenada will be an APPEALING and inviting place for established residents who have long
enjoyed its small town pace and feel, and also for newcomers seeking more than just a place to
work. Grenada County will be comfortable and friendly, clean and attractive, and active and
entertaining for all ages.
Guiding Principle 3
Grenada will be COMPETITIVE and innovative, protective of its economic advantages and gains, and
maintaining a core focus on infrastructure, leadership, quality and technology as the cornerstones of its
success.
Guiding Principle 4
Grenada will be INCLUSIVE as it works every day to build a diverse community of respect that
allocates resources equitably and promotes opportunity and access for all.
Guiding Principle 5
Grenada will be a UNIFIED place, reaching out and working together across sectors (private, public and
non-profit) and levels of government to accomplish shared aspirations and get “big things” done
economically.
Guiding Principle 6
Grenada will be a more COMPLETE place, fostering both new growth and revitalization,
prioritizing education through all stages of life, mindful of the natural environment, and
dedicated to helping residents achieve a happy, safe and peaceful lifestyle.
