Framework for Action

This Framework for Action section builds off of the Top Strategic Priorities itemized above under Key Issues and
Considerations. The actions in this Housing and Development section involve tangible steps that will lead to
achievement of the goals in line with the Plan’s Guiding Principles (in the Introduction section). The actions are
categorized into the five types of plan implementation actions highlighted throughout this Grenada County 2040
Plan:
1. Capital investments.

2. Programs and initiatives.
3. Regulations and standards.
4. Partnerships and coordination.
5. More targeted planning/study.

GOALS

A Goal is a statement of a desired outcome (“end”) toward which efforts
are directed as expressed by more specific objectives and action steps (“means”).

A quantity and diversity of housing options that makes living in Grenada County
GOAL HD 1: attainable for a wide range of age groups and income levels, including those crucial to
the area’s economic development success.

GOAL HD 2: Appealing housing and neighborhood choices for families drawn by Grenada County’s
employment opportunities, small town charm, recreational assets and other amenities.

GOAL HD 3: Bolstered integrity and value of existing neighborhoods, and quality design of newer
residential areas to ensure their livability and long-term sustainability.

A land use allocation and pattern that advances Grenada County’s objectives of
GOAL HD 4: achieving greater housing variety, supporting its economic development and tax base
needs, and creating a complete community with convenient resident access to schools,
recreation, shopping and services.

An approach to and philosophy of development in Grenada County, through continued
GOAL HD 5: partnerships between the private and public sectors, that advances the area’s core
desires for quality and equitable residential and commercial outcomes that boost
Grenada County’s economic potential.
