            Future Transportation Network

Shown on the Future Transportation Network Map are classifications of existing roadways in Grenada County
            as:
 Interstate Highway 55 (in dark yellow), with full access control (ingress to and egress from highway only at
                 designated interchanges).
 Other federal highways (in red), namely U.S. 51 through the county.
 State highways (in blue) maintained by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

 "Traffic Movement Routes" (in green) that are so designated because they are relatively continuous for
longer distances and/or are other roadways within the county that enable vehicular traffic to reach key
                 destinations.
 "Traffic Collection/Distribution Routes" (in bright yellow) that are so designated because they are routes
that move vehicular traffic between the higher-level highways and roadways and the places people are
needing to travel to or from (their “origins and destinations”).
The map also shows, with black dashed lines, potential opportunities to make new roadway connections that
would enhance overall connectivity and/or help open up new areas for development in key locations within
the county. This includes areas in the vicinity of and especially west of I-55 that are indicated for Primarily
Residential development on the Housing and Develop04-MAP-Future-Transportation-Network-FINAL.pdfment
Opportunities Map in the Housing and Development section of this Plan.
