         WHAT IF ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS EXTEND BEYOND THE BUILDING FRONT?

         Where architectural elements project forward of the building front, they will be included in the reviewable area if
         they are attached to the building wall. For instance, the porch shown below on the corner lot will be included in
         review because it is attached to the contributing main building. However, the stairs shown on the interior lot below
         are not reviewable because they are not attached to the building wall.

         The models below illustrate styles of new construction that could be built in State College’s historic districts.
         The red line indicates the 50% mark defined by the ordinance as the point forward of which new construction
         is subject to review, and behind which is not subject to review. The brown indicates the components that will be
         reviewed for each building and the tan indicates the non-reviewable section.
