Grenada County Build Better Together 2040 Plan
Key Issues and Considerations
Through the Grenada County Today and Plan Direction phases of the comprehensive planning effort, a set of 10
Top Strategic Priorities was identified based on interactions with County and City elected officials and other area
leaders, input from the Plan Advisory Committee, other results from varied stakeholder engagement activities,
and the plan consultant’s own input. Recognizing
that Housing Supply and Options was the consensus
“Job 1” item facing Grenada County in the near
term, one other Strategic Priority is most relevant to
this Transportation portion of the Grenada County
2040 Plan:
3. Roadway Capacity and Safety. Overloaded
intersections, traffic back-ups on two-lane
rural roads intended for many fewer
vehicles, and rising crash rates and other
safety concerns will be among the first signs
that the side effects of rapid growth are
getting ahead of its benefits. Government at
all levels must prepare now to invest in the
necessary mobility upgrades that a growing
Grenada County will require. Existing roadways like Wooded Drive may require
improvements as additional housing development
anticipated by this Plan adds more daily vehicle trips
to current traffic volume in the area.
